Luxury and environment are Borgo Lucia\u2019s fundamental principles<\/strong><\/p>

Molto spesso il concetto di lusso \u00e8 difficilmente associabile a quello della sostenibilit\u00e0 ambientale.\u00a0Questa \u00e8 stata senza alcun dubbio una delle maggiori sfide nel realizzare Borgo Lucia, una struttura caratterizzata da un nuovo concetto di sustainable luxury<\/b>, where ancient, modern and environment merge to create something unique.<\/p>

Considering the surrounding environment with its historical and cultural heritage, we have tried to recover as much as possible, through an important restoration<\/b> of the structure, aimed at enhancing both the existing architecture, dominated by the trulli (UNESCO heritage)<\/b>, sia l\u2019ambiente circostante caratterizzato da una folta pineta secolare.<\/p>

Even if it would have been easier to build new buildings, we preferred to upgrade<\/b> alcuni locali in disuso, quali magazzini e depositi esistenti, evitando in tal modo un consumo di suolo per nuove edificazioni. Sono stati recuperati: gli ex depositi-garage nei quali \u00e8 stata realizzata l\u2019attuale reception, e gli ex magazzini, dai quali sono stati ricavati i locali tecnici.<\/p>

The intervention was not limited to the recovery of the existing areas. Indeed, the project was centred on consumption\u2019s sustainability<\/b>, both in its realization and in the daily management of indoor and outdoor spaces.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Borgo Lucia\u2019s air conditioning is the most interesting and original aspect: the peculiarity and uniqueness of the trulli<\/b> is, in fact, to keep the rooms very fresh, making the use of air conditioners almost useless. They will be used almost exclusively to heat the rooms in the winter periods.<\/p>

Inside the apartments, particular attention was given to safeguarding environmental sustainability<\/b>,\u00a0sia negli impianti idrici ed elettrici che nella ricerca e cura degli arredi. Nella dotazione impiantistica della cucina sono stati utilizzati sistemi di cottura elettrici e ad induzione, eliminando completamente l\u2019uso di fuochi a gas.<\/p>

The bedrooms are all characterised by natural elements which were carefully selected<\/b>, such as wood, wrought iron and ceramics, avoiding plastic.<\/p>

The realization of the bathrooms was the great challenge concerning sustainability; indeed, the presence of the hot tub led to the installation of 80 litre electric boilers with high energy efficiency, to heat water in every apartment.<\/p>

Another peculiarity that makes Borgo Lucia <\/b>a structure extremely attentive and sensitive to the concept of environmental sustainability<\/b>, is undoubtedly the restoration work made on the outdoor areas. Due to a long period of inactivity of the structure, which lasted about 16 years, the gardeners worked for about 2 months to clean all the outdoor spaces, create relaxation areas, plant new vegetation and prune all the century-old pines.\u00a0<\/p>

Among the many interventions, the most delicate was the construction of a small perimeter wall contemporary with the removal of an old railing, which was used as a support to a large trellis of white roses, very dear to grandma Lucia<\/b>, who inspired the realization of the \u2018Borgo\u2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
